Dia: When and why did you start blogging? What do you blog about?
Sierra: I started blogging out of necessity for self-love. I needed an outlet. I needed a place to express myself, my fashion and my life. I was meeting women every day that needed a safe place to just exist and feel accepted. That’s what I hope Eclectic Kurves is for them. A safe space.
Dia: Where are you based? What do you love about where you live?
Sierra: I am based in Indianapolis. Love this city! There’s so much to do here! I always try to highlight the coolness going on in my city on the blog.
Dia: How did you discover your personal style?
Sierra: Though I feel like the discovery is never-ending, I have accepted my eclectic style. I am drawn to bright colors, bold patterns and really just whatever I feel like in the moment. I truly dress to match my mood.
Dia: Have you always been a fashion lover?
Sierra: Always. At one point I wanted to be a fashion designer. I kind of still do…
Dia: Who are your style icons?
Sierra: Betsey Johnson, Carolina Herrera, Donatella Versace and of course…Sarah Jessica Parker. Who doesn’t love Sex in the City’s Carrie Bradshaw? I basically planned my entire adulthood around that character. LOL
Dia: What does your morning routine look like?
Sierra: Whew. Each morning totally varies. Having 2 kids and now 2 dogs totally changes up the routine.
Dia: What do you always look for in an outfit?
Sierra: I look for statement pieces that I can mix in with ordinary pieces in my closet. When I’m shooting or headed to an event, I want to stand out and have a burning hate of wearing something just once, so finding ways to repurpose pieces is my jam.
Dia: What pieces make up your everyday uniform?
Sierra: Dresses. Red Lipstick. Bomb Attitude. Enough Said.
Dia: What does body-positivity mean to you?
Sierra: Loving yourself along the journey. Truly being your own best friend first. Sure, we’re always going to find something we want to criticize about our bodies, but remembering how much of a badass you are diminished those thoughts. I’m at my heaviest weight right now and honestly love myself more than I ever have. If I don’t love me…all of me…how could anyone else? I am more than a number on the scale. It took me too long to realize that, but I am SHINING now that I have.
Dia: What is the scariest thing about being an influencer and talking so openly about your life on the internet?
Sierra: The scariest thing about being a blogger is the potential of being misunderstood or put on an unrealistic pedestal. I am human and I make mistakes. Sometimes I think people forget we are people too.
Dia: Last question, what is the best part of your role as a blogger?
Sierra: The best part is making other women feel confident. Hands down.
