My family lives overseas, so spending time together isn’t something we take for granted. Over the holidays, I focus on unplugging to really be present with the people I love. I also use the time to catch up on the books, movies, and podcasts I didn’t get the chance to take in during the year. Building in some relaxation helps me feel refreshed and re-energized when I head back to work for the new year.

Since I reunite with so many friends and family members over the holidays, I always want to look my best. Thankfully, it’s the perfect time of year to break out my favorite color palette—deep jewel tonesThese are just a few of the looks I can’t wait to wear this season.

I usually spend the holidays visiting my family in Kuwait. It’s a long flight, so comfort is my top priority. Over time, I’ve perfected my travel-day outfit: dark jeans with a cozy knit top rounded out with a pair of flats (easy to slip on and off for security). I’ll finish the look with a duster vest or jacket—it gives me an extra layer of warmth for the plane, but also makes any outfit feel a bit more polished. Even after 12 hours of travel, I can feel confident that I’ll look put together when I reunite with my family at Arrivals.

5K Training

Another benefit of spending the holidays in Kuwait is the weather! It’s usually in the 60s in late December there, which feels like paradise after the freezing New York temperatures. It’ll be an ideal time to get some exercise outdoors—which is perfect because I’m currently training for a 5K in Central Park in the spring. I love to find new ways to challenge myself, and training for this race gives me a fun way to feel like I’m improving each week.

Before I leave New York, there’s one event I’m looking forward to most: the Dia&Co holiday party! It’s an incredible moment to celebrate all that the team has accomplished over the past year—and it’s always a source of style inspiration. The fashionistas on our team pull out all the stops, and I can’t wait to see how this year’s 1920s theme will come to life. For me personally, I’ll be rocking a navy dress with a twist detail paired with a moto jacket—not the first look that comes to mind when you think 1920s, but I’ll be incorporating the style of the era through accessories. Bring on the fringe, pearls, headpieces, and feathers!

Christmas Morning

This year, I’ll spend Christmas morning with my parents, sister, brother, and two little nieces. It’s a joy to be around little kids on Christmas morning—seeing the holiday through their eyes makes you remember how magical it can be. I’ll need an outfit that feels festive, but that I can really move around in, as I plan to spend the morning opening presents, helping the nieces break in a few of their new toys, then tucking into a delicious breakfast (my favorite meal of the day!).

New Year’s Eve

I usually stay home on New Year’s Eve—rather than going out to loud parties, I prefer to spend quality time with the people I love most, reflecting on the year that has passed and setting an intention for the year ahead. That doesn’t mean I don’t get fully dressed up to welcome the new year in style, though! One of the best parts of celebrating at home is that when my heels start to hurt, I can just slip them off.
