Once the weather starts getting warmer many of us may instantly reach for our favorite flowy dresses but as far as summer staples go, we often forget shorts. To be fair there are many different types of plus size shorts for women<\/strong><\/a>, and figuring out what to wear with them can take a bit of trial and error so it makes sense that these aren\u2019t considered to be much of a summer style fail-safe as sundresses are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But shorts are perfect for any summer activity you can think of\u2014from rooftop parties, a night out with friends, a stroll down the beach boardwalk to even days at the office. Here are just a few types of this timeless summer staple that we\u2019ll be buying this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bermuda Shorts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m the kind of person who will wear skinny jeans well into summer but there comes a time that it is just too hot for full-length jeans. These are the moments that I reach for a pair of Bermuda shorts as these fit like a traditional skinny jean throughout the length of the thigh. Usually stopping at the knee, if not a little bit over, the length of this short is great for anyone who wants to wear shorts without exposing too much of their legs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re going on vacation aboard these are definitely the shorts to pack as they are long enough that you don\u2019t have to worry about potential chub rub<\/strong><\/a> as you go sightseeing or running to rides at your favorite theme park with the family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is not to say that you can\u2019t wear this plus size summer style<\/strong><\/a> to work as well. The boyfriend shorts are a silhouette that is fairly new even for me. Though shorter than Bermuda length, you don\u2019t have to worry about these being too<\/i> short. It is a slouchy-yet-stylish fit usually with an affixed cuff that gives it a vintage, almost  lived-in look that\u2019s perfect for laid-back days in the sun. There are even options with distressing and frayed hems that lend itself to a more edgy style  you can play up with combat boots and a band tee. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Personally, this short style lends itself for more of a boho aesthetic. For example, this Catherine Boyfriend Short with a flowy off the shoulder top like the Chrissy Peasant Top<\/a>, some espadrille wedge sandals, metallic bangles and a layered necklace for a comfortable, and sexy standout boho look great for a date at twilight by the pier. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course denim isn\u2019t your only option for plus-size shorts<\/strong> this summer. If athleisure and leggings are more to your style, I highly recommend giving biker shorts a try this summer. They are just as comfortable and versatile as your traditional full-length leggings, only shorter. Great for those days when the thermometer goes higher than 70 degrees which is about when I start breaking a sweat without even trying. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Simply pair it with a loose-fit graphic top and some colorful sneakers. Or even with a fitted tank and an oversized third piece like a kimono.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
