Tanya Taylor is an independent fashion brand based in New York City. Founded in 2012, the brand presents a unique and refreshing vision inspired by the city’s energy, art, and the diverse women who inhabit it. Tanya’s world is modern, artful, and liberating.

Raised in a creative environment, Tanya was encouraged to explore art from a young age. From taking art classes to painting vibrant murals on the walls of her childhood home, it all led her to finding her purpose as a creative entrepreneur.

Taking an artistic, thoughtful approach to fashion, she intertwines the use of color, texture, and original hand-painted prints with uplifting and celebratory silhouettes into each size-inclusive collection, so all women have a way to express themselves creatively and confidently.

Tanya received her Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from McGill University and is a graduate of the AAS Fashion Design program at Parsons School of Design. She currently acts as CEO and Creative Director of the Brand.

Dia: What led you to start your own line?

TT: A desire to connect with women and mix my love of art and commerce to create beautiful things that make them happy.

Dia: How would you describe your style?

TT: Playful and feminine – everything I wear has a story.

Dia: What’s been the highlight of your career thus far?

TT: Taking my mom to the White House to meet Michelle Obama had to be the absolute highlight – it was such a special pinch me moment.

Dia: What styles are your favorite in this new collection?

TT: This season we got more playful with our sets so I love how the Jayden Top and Tate Short can be mixed and matched with other pieces, but are the easiest off-duty set together. Outside of that, the Maya Dress is the most amazing silhouette and we wanted to make it a really novel solid, so we designed it in the juiciest citrus tone for the Summer.

Dia: What do you want to see from fashion in the next 5 years?

TT: This season, I love how fashion is moving beyond a minimal point of view and starting to reconnect with personal style – eclectic mixing and fresh colors taking the forefront again. Sustainability, inclusivity, customer centric marketing and AI will be important focuses that will change the landscape over the next 5 years, and are things we’ve been leaning into for a long time, but are continuing to push our own boundaries with.

Dia: What do you love about 11 Honoré | Dia & Co integrating and becoming the premier destination for plus fashion?

TT: I love that there is an inspiring and elevated destination for a plus size shopper to feel included and celebrated!
