Blakely & Stefan’s Stunning Barn Wedding

Gorgeous plus-size bride Blakely married her best friend in an Indiana barn under chandeliers and twinkle lights, surrounded by friends and family.

It’s officially wedding season—the time of year when our calendars get booked with events in honor of love (and we find ourselves needing an elegant outfit). Here at Dia&Co, we believe that finding the perfect dress shouldn’t be harder than finding your perfect partner. Not to mention, we too rarely get to see plus-size bridal inspiration depicted in mainstream media. But women of all sizes are worthy of gorgeous days of celebration, a lifetime of love, and a big party, which is why we’re excited to share stories from our community members about their celebration of love. If you’re a plus-size bride-to-be (or can’t help but be drawn to a love story), get inspired by Blakely’s stunning barn wedding—and share us your story with us at social@dia.com.

The best day of my life was my wedding day. I know that sounds cliche, but it was. I married my best friend, I laughed all day, and I didn’t care about my size. I am lying if I say everything went perfectly and I didn’t think about my size a couple of times throughout the day, I definitely had the “please zip” moment, but I remembered I deserved to be happy and I was. I tucked in the sleeves of my dress that I had added out of fear of someone seeing my big arms, and I wore the dress I dreamed of: a strapless sweetheart! Every moment after was pure joy. Even though it rained all day off-and-on and we had to move the wedding indoors, my sister ordered the wrong color dress, and my flowers and veil didn’t make it to our first look, but none of that mattered. The day was perfect.

The Rehearsal Dinner
I wanted to include a groom’s cake but didn’t want to have too much cake at the wedding, so my mother-in-law and my sister-in-law made this cool Star Wars cake for our rehearsal dinner.
My engagement ring was my great grandmother’s engagement ring. My great grandfather was a coal miner from Kentucky and worked so hard to get my great grandmother this ring. It was a special detail.

My Dress Experience

I was terrified. I am a street size 22 and I was dreading the wedding dress shopping experience that all I wanted to do was enjoy. All the worry was for not. I went to The Couture Closet in LaGrange, KY and they had every style I wanted in sizes I could try on. And these ladies were kind and all body positive, which is nice when those are the people who see you in your delicates!

Getting Ready

I won’t ever stop needing my mother’s help. She gave me this emerald set at my bridal shower. I actually discovered this set and my sister’s matching ruby set in high school and asked my mom if I could have them then, but my mom told me I would get them on another day. It was such a fun surprise to get them at my bridal shower, they were always meant for my wedding.
I was obsessed with my flowers. My florist, Amy Jo Goforth from Merci Bouquet in New Albany, Indiana did all of my bouquets and centerpieces. These were some of my favorite details.
My Bridal Portraits
I remember this moment. I was in this room with my photographer, Shaelyne Meadows, and her second shooter, David. People were flooding in and out asking me endless questions, my photographers were asking what I wanted, and I was overwhelmed. I stared at them in all my anxiety and said, “I just can’t think.” They swooped in. David immediately closed off the room, stopping the bombardment of people, and Shaelyne went to work directing me into poses and helping to calm the air. I was so scared these would come out bad.

We were dodging the weather all day long. This shot right after our first look and the rain was closing in on us.

We chose to do a first look (a photo that captures when the bride and groom first see each other on their wedding day). At this point, my stress level was through the roof because our timeline was already out the window, we were behind…way behind. But as soon as I saw my soon-to-be husband, Stefan, I didn’t care anymore. I knew all I wanted was to soak up every moment of it.
By this point, the rain had started to sprinkle and my husband had accidentally ripped my veil out. I was in love with my train. I always wanted a dramatic dress that would give a big entrance!
It rained off and on all day but it couldn’t stop this love! My husband had to help me make it but we got to the alter, together.
My big entrance. I won’t forget this moment. Without the pictures I wouldn’t be able to tell you what the aisle looked like or what my father was saying to me. All I saw was my husband, smiling right at me.
The moment he saw me. The moment all the worry and anxiety went away. The moment I hope to never forget.
My wedding was in a barn in Indiana, which if you’re from Indiana, you know, is pretty fitting.
Officially, the Corbins.
plus size bride and groom with bridal party
It rained and rained and rained. My sister ordered the wrong color dress but it was still the best day ever and we all had a blast!
The fun wasn’t exclusive to the wedding party. My momma was a dancing queen!

The Newlywed Game

I love these photos side by side. They show our personality and how much fun we have with each other.
It also shows how we react when we get caught!
We danced to Rocketman by Elton John. We went to Bonnaroo together our first year together. Elton John was headlining and we missed out on getting good seats so we headed to the ferris wheel. We were the last ones permitted for the entire festival and they stopped our basket at the top, Elton John was playing Rocketman and it was magic.
We had local honey as our wedding favors, from Bohman Bee Company in Hanover, IN.
My amazing, handsome, and out-of-this-world awesome husband, Stefan.
At this point, our photographer pulled us out halfway through the reception. We were tipsy and full of laughter. Translation: we were hard to direct and had a tough time being serious.
The last dance.

Congratulations to the Corbins, Blakely, and Stefan, on their recent wedding. Wishing you a lifetime of happiness! <3 Dia&Co
